No medical team or Army coming from India - High Commission Featured

The Indian High Commission in Sri Lanka refuted reports citing that an Indian army team is to arrive in Sri Lanka to support in anti-coronavirus efforts.

News 1st has reported citing embassy sources as to saying, “There is no medical team or Army coming to Sri Lanka... That is false.”

Last night (21), the Press Trust of India (PTI) reported that the 'Indian Army is readying separate teams to be deployed in Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Bhutan and Afghanistan to help those countries boost capabilities to deal with rising cases of coronavirus.'

The PTI had added that an Indian Army team was sent to Maldives last month while another team was dispatched to Kuwait this month.

'The sources said the teams for Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Bhutan and Afghanistan are being readied as part of India’s policy of extending helping hand to all friendly countries in the region to fight the pandemic, it further noted.
