NOC to be taken to the FCID! Featured

Several persons having connections to the sports field are going to complain to the FCID alleging financial fraud amounting to Rs. 100 million at the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Sri Lanka.

They had a related round of talks with a team of senior lawyers yesterday (06), reports say.

The move has the support of president Maithripala Sirisena as part of his efforts to eliminate corruption.

Their complaint will cite the NOC upper-level hierarchy and the auditor general as respondents.

It will raise several issues including a Rs. three million payment to an Australian coach without an agreement, failure to submit proof for a sum of Rs. 23 m and acting without agreement or tender procedures in lieu of another Rs. 52.

Also in question are a cheque for Rs. 149,300 to the Hockey Association not getting credited to its account on time, use without permission of two credit cards for Rs. 100,000 and Rs. 300,000 and the use of Rs. 1,266,434 without permission and without using cash books.
