Ex-officials behind planned cricket protest! Featured

A protest is to take place in front Independence Square in Colombo tomorrow (16), starting at 5.00 pm over the status of cricket in Sri Lanka, following the three-nil Test whitewash in the hands of India.

Defence authorities say the agitation is being planned by former Sri Lanka Cricket secretary Nishantha Ranatunga, Kushil Gunasekara and two former media managers of Sri Lanka Cricket.

A person from India who claims to be a journalist is also supporting the protest, but authorities are still unable to establish his intentions.

He is reportedly staying at a lodge at Mirissa owned by a key organizer of the protest.

Critics say that despite the serious setback in the game locally, that should not be a reason for persons with petty objectives to gain power of SLC through an interim committee.

Previously, under Arjuna Ranatunga, Sri Lanka suffered a three-nil Test whitewash in the hands of India.
