Malinga achieved the milestone during the second T20 international against Bangladesh in Colombo yesterday (06). (video shown below)
Bowling the 19th over against Bangladesh, Malinga, on his first delivery, rattled Mushfiqur Rahim's stumps. On the next delivery, he dislodged Bangladesh captain Mashrafe Mortaza's bails. He trapped Mehedi Hasan Miraz in front of the wicket on his third delivery to complete the hat-trick.
Former Australian bowler Brett Lee was the first to achieve this incredible feat. Lee also achieved the feat against Bangladesh in 2008.
Malinga is the fifth bowler and second Sri Lankan, after Thisara Perera, to bag a hat-trick in the shortest format of the game.
Despite Malinga's feat, Sri Lanka lost the match to Bangladesh by 45 runs.
