Cricket election heats up due to objections Featured

The election of office bearers for Sri Lanka Cricket has heated up once again after objections were filed against Jayantha Dharmadasa and Mohan de Silva, who run for the SLC presidency, ‘Deshaya’ reports.

An appeals committee appointed by the sports minister has received nearly 10 objections in all.

One objection by Mohan de Silva and Shammi Silva says Dharmadasa is ineligible, as he has not played first class cricket.

In another objection, Shammi Silva claims Dharmadasa has sponsored SLC while being its official.

Two other objections have been filed against Shammi Silva and Mohan de Silva, over the dissolution of the respectively SLC executive committees when the two were their members.

The appeals committee led by retired Supreme Court judge Nimal Dissanayake will rule on these objections by February 10.
