Avishka to Australia as batting coach

Sri Lanka Cricket Board is said to be making plans to appoint Avishka Gunawardena as the batting coach of the Sri Lanka team currently in Australia for their second test against the Australian team.

The current batting coach John Lewis has applied for leave due to a personal engagement.

Lewis is scheduled to rejoin the Sri Lankan team just prior to their tour of Africa. Therefore, SLC is planning to appoint Avishka Gunawardena as the batting coach for the Canberra test match.

The Sri Lanka A team did a clean sweep of the ODI tournament against Ireland A team winning 5-0 under the guidance of Avishka Gunawardena who was the chief coach of the team.
