SL Paralympics team wins five medals including gold

The Sri Lankan Paralympics team members had succeeded in winning a gold medal, three silver and a bronze medal (by 1.00 pm) today (08) at the Asian Paralympics currently being held in Indonesia.

Amila Prasad won the gold in the 200 mt (T42, 63 ) (male) race while Amara Indumathi won silver in the women’s long jump event (T45/46/47). Chaminda Sampath won silver in javelin throw (F42-44/61-64) and Indika Chuladasa won silver in the Males 200 mt (T42, 63) event. Nirmala Buddhika won the Bronze medal for the Males 200 mt (T42, 63) race.

The Asian Paralympics commenced last Saturday (06) and today is the first day the Sri Lankan athletes participated. The Paralympics will conclude on October 13.

Sri Lanka is at 10th place on the points table with the five medals they won, while Chila leads the table with 33 medals including 19 gold.
