Sangakkara joins in preventing suicides in SL (Pics)

With the aim of preventing suicides and improving the mental health of all Sri Lankans, the CCC organization has initiated a programme titled ‘From darkness to light cycling tour’ will kick off from the Colombo Independence square on August 29 and is scheduled to end in Chilaw.

This organisation set up with NGO collaboration commenced its activities in 2003 and currently they have completed a 190 bed hostel facility at the Apeksha hospital premises.

Their latest undertaking is to reduce the incidents of suicide to a minimum and strengthening their mental health. Hence they have set up a round the clock hot line for this purpose on telephone number 1333, while the cycle tour is organised to introduce this service.

Former Cricket Captain and the initiatives Ambassador Kumar Sangakkara would also be joining this tour.

The cycle tour will commence on August 29 and end on September 13 at independence square.

Expressing his views, Kumar Sangakkara said, “Our main purpose in organising this cycle tour is to introduce the 1333 help hotline and it will run through many towns during its course. Further we have organised many programmes during this tour and anyone suffering from depression could speak to a trained and experienced counsellor and obtain their advice in overcoming their worries that may lead them to take drastic measures.”
