Kabaddi president resigns after defeat at Asian Games

President of the Sri Lanka Kabaddi Federation - Anura Pathirana has tendered his resignation over the failure to secure a medal at the Asian Games in Indonesia.

Mr. Pathirana, a former Kabaddi player, who is currently in Indonesia with the Sri Lankan team, has also informed the Sports minister of his decision.

However, when comparing with the athletes representing Sri Lanka from other sports, the Sri Lankan Kabbadi teams have been relatively successful at the Asian Games.

In a backdrop where many officials are considering the Asian Games as a mere joyride, Mr. Pathirana's decision has been lauded in the sports field.

However, critics say that the coaches in charge should also take their share of the defeat and resign.
