8-member contingent to world carrom championship Featured

An eight-member contingent led by Sri Lanka’s number one player Chamil Cooray has been named to represent the country at the fifth world carrom championship in South Korea.

The event will take place at Chuncheon from 24 to 29 of August.

The men’s team also comprises Nishantha Fernando of the Navy, Udesh Chandima Perera of the Air Force and Mohamed Shahid Hilmy of Royal College, Colombo.

Yasika Rahubadda and Chalani Lakmali of the Air Force, Joseph Rosita of the Navy and the Army’s Madhuka Dilshani are the women’s players for the country.

At the previous championship in the Maldives in 2014, Sri Lanka won the second place, while Cooray won the parallel event, the Swiss League championship.
