PM instructs to summon Litro Gas before COPE

The management of Litro Gas Lanka Ltd has been summoned before the Committee on Public Enterprises (COPE) tomorrow (20) at 11.00 am to inquire into the current gas shortage and related solutions.

While expressing views in Parliament today on the need to expedite the gas distribution process, PM Ranil Wickremesinghe had instructed to summon the Litro Gas before the COPE to look into the matter.

“Despite assurance being provided by Litro Gas that gas would be unloaded yesterday via lorries, it has not happened. I have instructed the Chairman to provide an immediate explanation. I have also requested that COPE summons Litro officials as well,” Wickremesinghe had tweeted today morning.

Litro Gas yesterday said  that it would start distributing 80,000 cylinders per day from today after unloading two shipments of 3,700 metric tonnes each from Oman. However, this has not been done so.
