SJB to assist drug shortage ; Sajith urges to cut down on red tape

Opposition Leader - Sajith Premadasa has requested the President to ensure that there is no 'bureaucratic red tape' raised by Health Ministry officials when stocks of essential drugs and life saving equipment are brought to the country through their 'Husma' initiative.

Speaking in Parliament today (19), the opposition leader said that they would take measures to bring in two essential drugs for heart patients, to the country in a transparent manner.

Responding, the PM thanked the opposition leader and the SJB and said this was a fine example which he hoped other organisations would take up.

He also said that he would put an official to look into any hindrances and asked Mr. Ruwan Wijewardene to discuss with Mr. Premadasa and to coordinate.
