President tells how to prevent religious clashes Featured

Proper law enforcement as well as a widespread effort to enlighten the conflicting parties are required to prevent religious clashes, says president Maithripala Sirisena.

Leaders of all religions should come to a single platform in order to do that, he said at a meeting of the inter-religious advisory council at his office yesterday (31).

President Sirisena stressed that communal or religious clashes that lead to disunity could not be allowed.

The president added that all should act reasonably and impartially to resolve such matters.

A committee comprising religious and political leaders has been appointed to tackle religious issues at district level.
