PM supports fund for young inventors!

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has taken measures to set up a fund with an initial investment of Rs. 100 million to support young inventors and motivate them.

He made this statement at a ceremony held at Nelum Pokuna theatre yesterday (12) to mark 2018 World Youth Day celebrations.

An exhibition comprising the inventions of young men and women was also organised to mark this occasion.
Minister of Youth Affairs and Southern Development Sagala ratnayake, Chairman of the Youth Services Council and Director General Attorney Sarath de Weliange were among those present.

Further expressing his views Prime Minister Wickremesinghe said financial assistance had been provided to fund 1,500 projects at rural level through the youth services council.

He assured further assistance to improve the facilities for young inventors at rural level and said more funds would be allocated for this purpose.

He said this assistance was provided with the aim of promoting the abilities of the young inventors so that they would not be deprived of the opportunity of furthering their talents due to the lack of financial assistance.
