Historic documents at Archives fraudulently sold! Featured

A special investigation has been initiated regarding a scam where historically significant rare documents which are kept securely at the National Archives library has been photocopied and sold to foreign organisations and other institutions illegally.

The investigations had been initiated after several MP’s had complained about the scam to the President.

It is reported that these MPs are preparing to reveal all details of this scam in parliament during a debate.

It is also reported that a prominent parliamentary figure is accused of being involved in this scam.

Documents belonging to the Dutch, Portuguese and English eras and historical documents have been sold in this manner for thousands of rupees, it is also reported.

However, the Director General of the Archives Department Dr. Nadeera Rupasinghe denied any knowledge of this scam, adding that she had not been notified of any investigation either.
