Protest over army deployment at A/L examination!

All education unions have protested against the decision to deploy either retired or serving army officers as invigilators at A/L examination centres.

They point out that while there is an ample number of education field officers, it was highly unnecessary to deploy army personnel.

The unions claim that the army officers deployed currently have already begun issuing orders to the education officers in a controlling manner.

A discussion is scheduled to take place this afternoon between members representing 13 unions known as the union collection for the preservation of education and the Commissioner General of Examinations Sanath Pujitha.

The Examinations Department had taken a decision to appoint additional invigilators to all 2268 examination centres including retired army officers, education administration officers and retired officers from other services.
