The teenager has been identified as H.M. Saumya Sumanasiri.

According to reports, the suspect is one Chaminda Lunugama, the husband of Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna candidate - Nilmini Lunugama. It is said that Mr. Lunugama's brother has also joined him to assault the teenager.

Speaking to 'Sri Lanka Mirror', the victim's father - Mr. H.M. Dayantha Sumanasiri said that his son was initially rushed to the Gampaha Hospital and was later discharged citing that his condition was not serious.
