Army assists in preventing fraud at A/L exam Featured

The Army is assisting the Examinations Department for the first to prevent cheating at the GCE Advanced Level Examination time this year, says Army chief Lt. Gen. Mahesh Senanayake.

Senanayake has told ‘Mawbima’ that this followed a request by exams chief Sanath Pujitha to help prevent fraud by using communication equipment.

A special plan will be in place to prevent such fraud with the support of the Signals Corps, said the Army commander.

Retired senior officers will be stationed at exam centres where such fraud is likely, to man equipment to jam the signals of smart phones and other high-tech communication equipment.

The GCE A/L examination takes place from August 06 to September 01 at 2,268 centres island wide.
