Court orders report on probe into Kriish deal case against Namal Featured

Colombo Fort magistrate Lanka Jayaratne yesterday (17) ordered the FCID to report about the progress of its investigation into the misappropriation money in the Kriish Square deal.

MP Namal Rajapaksa stands accused of using, for other purpose, a sum of Rs. 70 million granted for the promotion of rugger by India’s Kriish company that leased out a 4.3 acre land at Transworks Square in Colombo for a construction project during the previous regime.

Pursuant to submissions made by the FCID, the magistrate gave permission to examine a cheque for Rs. 17 million issued to Nimal Perera, who owns N Capital, for a property at Gover’s Lane in Colombo.

The case has been filed on a complaint lodged by Voice against Corruption convener Wasantha Samarasinghe in 2015.

The case will be taken up again on October 26.
