Hungarian buses for SLTB Featured

An agreement has been signed for a private company in Hungary to deploy 1,000 of its buses for public transportation under the Sri Lanka Transport Board.

These buses will be paid by the kilometre, at between Rs. 60 and Rs. 70, say transport ministry sources.

The owner will maintain the buses, while the drivers and the fuel will be supplied by the SLTB.

After 10 years, the SLTB will own the buses, according to a cabinet paper that is to be presented to the ministers in the coming week.
