Abduction complaint to UNHRC against Gotabhaya

A youth from France has lodged a complaint with the UNHRC in Geneva against former defence secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, saying that his father had been abducted at Cinnamon Gardens, Colombo in 2008 by two men in a white van.

The then eight-year-old identified as Dilison Steve says in the complaint that he and his father had been travelling in a vehicle at the time of the abduction.

The now 17-year-old says his father was a human rights activist.

The UNHRC has not inquired from him as to why he had waited 10 years to lodge a complaint.

He had been taken to the UNHRC session by the Eelam organization in France.

At the session in March this year, the UNHRC received another complaint, by a girl identified as Jeyani Thiagaraja that her brother had been abducted.
