He notes that even schoolchildren died in the Army shooting on the Rathupaswala protest and 21 were left with broken legs.
Speaking to ‘Ada’, Basil wondered if the Army behaved in the same manner during the war in the north.
It remains a question even today as to who had ordered to shoot at the Rathupaswala protestors, he said, adding that he had gone to the villagers and apologized to them over the incident.
Whoever wins, I will rule
Speaking further to the newspaper, Basil said they would end up losers if they went on saying that they could win without rectifying their mistakes, including the animosity by minority communities.
The former president will name the presidential candidate, and even if that candidate wins, Basil said, he will rule the country.
