In addition to the arrest made earlier in connection with the murder of Sivaneshwaran Regina in Sulipuram, Jaffna, two others were also arrested yesterday (29), according to the Vaddukodai Police.

The police said the two others aged 17 and 18, are also uncles of the child.

The suspects arrested yesterday are scheduled to be produced before the Mallakam Magistrate’s Court today (30).

The Vaddukkodai Police said that the earlier arrested suspect, the 22-year-old uncle of the child had been produced before the Mallakam Magistrate’s Court on June 27 and was ordered to be remanded until July 11.

The funeral of the murdered child was held by the grieving parents and villagers on June 26 at the Sulipuram, Thiruwedinilai cemetery.

The post-mortem examination was held at the Jaffna Hospital mortuary and it was determined that the cause of death was strangulation.

The body of the child was found in a well on June 25 and she was still dressed in her school uniform.

The police said that the child who had gone to school that day had not returned home that afternoon and upon investigation the child’s body was found in a nearby well.

The murdered child was a grade one student of the Kattupulam Tamil Mixed School.

The child had bruises on her neck area and the post-mortem examination confirmed that the child was strangled and killed.
