During 2017, the recurrent expenditure was Rs. 780 m, up from Rs. 570 m the previous year.
That increase was attributed to the preliminary arrangements made for the local bodies’ elections.
Also, Rs. 130 had gone to prepare the electoral register, up from Rs. 100 m in 2016.
The commission earned Rs. 8.8 m in 2016 from the sale of extracts, but it declined to Rs. 5.8 m in 2017.
