Sri Lankans’ food consumption on the decline Featured

The Central Bank reports a steep decline in the amounts of food being consumed by Sri Lankans.

When compared to the previous year, their consumption of rice, wheat flour and maize based foods has seen a sharp decrease in 2017.

In 2016, that stood at 207 kg, but it came down to 184 kg in 2017.

With a reduction in rice consumption, the consumption of maize has gone up.
