The chief custodian - Asela Bandara has been named as the chief suspect of the case and the woman in question had initially fled the Katharagama area after the shooting.
CID officers in Tangalle had arrested the woman in Dikwella yesterday (19).
The suspect, identified as 33-year-old Deepika Dilhani Weeraratne, is a resident of Kataragama New Town.
According to the Police Media Spokesman SP Ruwan Gunasekara, the suspect had been in the Kiri Vehera premises on the day the monk was shot and had been gathering information on the movements of the chief monk.
She has been arrested on charges of aiding and abating the shooting of the Chief monk and conspiring to commit the shooting, the police said. Meanwhile, the husband of the victim 40-year-old Hewawidanage Sugath alias Ralahamy had also been arrested on suspicion.
The two suspects were handed over to the Katharagama Police last afternoon (19) for further investigations.
