Court calls for report on recipients of money from Perpetual Treasuries Featured

Colombo Fort magistrate Lanka Jayaratne yesterday (10) ordered the CEO of W.M. Mendis Company to furnish a detailed report about the politicians and other persons who had been given money by Perpetual Treasuries Company.

The magistrate considered a submission by advocate Udara Karunatilake, representing the attorney general, that there was information that PT had invested part of the Rs. 91,470 million it had earned from two Central Bank bond sales in Mendis Company.

She also ordered the commissioner general of inland revenue to handover to the IGP the copies of assets and liabilities declarations of PT in the past years.

The second and fourth suspects in the case, PT owner Arjun Aloysius and CEO Kasun Palisena, were further remanded until May 24.

The advocate also informed the court that the required documents would be given to Interpol to enforce the red notice against the suspect, ex-Central Bank governor Arjun Mahendran.
