Although media reports cited that the 16 MPs who recently left the government are to join the May rally of the Joint Opposition, former minister Anura Priyadarshana Yapa says that they are yet to receive such an invitation.
Speaking at a media briefing yesterday (05), JO MP - Dilum Amunugama said that the group, known as the '16-clan' will attend the May rally of the JO.
Responding to inquiring made by 'Neth News' on this regard, Mr. Yapa had said that there is no such preparation and no such invitation has been extended either.
Upon being asked whether the group would join the SLFP rally, he had said, "there is one more day left to decide... A final decision has not been reached."
Invitation from president Sirisena
Earlier, the group had stated that they would join the SLFP rally which will be held in Chenkaladi, Batticaloa.
Speaking to 'Sri Lanka Mirror' on this regard, SLFP General Secretary - Duminda Dissanayake said that party head - president Maithripala Sirisena had invited these 16 MPs to join the SLFP rally.
