10 parliamentary committees become redundant Featured

With the prorogation of parliament, ten parliamentary committees including COPE and COPA have become redundant.

The other committees have been appointed to deal with curbing crime, losses incurred by the airlines and the Uma Oya multipurpose scheme.

Deputy secretary general of parliament Neil Iddawela said drafts for second reading and private member’s motions too, become invalidated.

They need to be tabled in the House again.

The new session of parliament commences on May 08.
