Half day for banks on 20th!

The Central Bank of Sri Lanka has declared Friday, April 20th  as a half day bank holiday.

In a holiday circular, the Central Bank noted that the half day holiday has been declared in lieu of the Sinhala and Tamil New Year falling on Saturday April 14.

Accordingly, all transactions at the Colombo Stock Exchange will end by 12 noon on Friday April 20.

However, this half day holiday is relevant only to the banking  sector as it has not been declared a government or mercantile holiday.
