He was apparently waiting to meet the President over the ministry he was given in the second cabinet reshuffle on February 25, of the good governance regime.
In that reshuffle Perera was given the post of State Minister of Prison Reforms and Rehabilitation.
However, he earlier served as the Deputy Minister of Power and Renewable Energy.
While it is said that there was a promise to hand Perera the post of Minister of Power and Renewable Energy, he is currently asking for the post of State Minister of Power and Renewable Energy.
The day after the cabinet reshuffle yesterday (26), media reports suggested that Ajith P. Perera would be sworn in as the State Minister of Power and Renewable Energy, it did not materialize.
