The PM also said developing countries invited foreign investments, just like China did, to achieve development.

The target for Sri Lanka in the next decade will be to surpass Malaysia to become a middle-income country, he said, adding the following 10 years will attempt to take Sri Lanka to the high-income rich nations.

Speaking further, he commented about two past students of Dharmasoka Vidyalaya – minister Sarath Foneska and Election Commission chief Mahinda Deshapriya.

They led wars of different kinds

Both are equals, as Field Marshal Fonseka led the war at the battlefront, while Deshapriya gave leadership to the war of the votes, said the PM.

He also said that a mango plant he had planted as the chief guest at the 1985 prize giving of the school when he was the education minister was now 30 years old.

At that time, education minister Akila Viraj Kariyawasam was a 12 year old student of Kuliyapitiya Central College, he said.
