The accused are ex-fisheries minister Sarath Kumara Gunaratne and several others.
They stand accused of misusing more than Rs. 10 million given by the treasury for the development of the Negombo lagoon on Mahinda Rajapaksa’s presidential election campaign, and also of printing diaries during the presidential election using the money belonging to the Fisheries Harbour Corporation.
The court action follows an investigation by the CID.
Case against Basil on June 04
Meanwhile, a case in which ex-minister Basil Rajapaksa and former director general of Divineguma Department R.A.P. Ranawaka are the accused, will be heard on June 04.
