Special statement by Ravi on January 24!

Former Minister Ravi Karunanayake will make a special statement to the media on the Bond Commission report and the political issues that have arisen as a result, on January 24, a senior member of his legal team told Sri Lanka Mirror.

He said the legal team is currently in the process of studying the Bond Commission report, adding that there are major discrepancies between the report and the special statement made by the President.

However, our attempts to contact Karunanayake for further information did not materialise.

Based on the evidence presented before the Bond Commission and the subsequent pressure, Ravi Karunanayake resigned from his ministerial post on August 10, last year.

In his statement addressing parliament he said even though he was certain he would be absolved from the charges levelled against him and found to be innocent, he had decided to resign from his post for the sake of his party and the country.
