Only 5 reports sent to AG for legal action

Only five of the investigation reports into the serious fraud and misuse of state resources during the Rajapaksa regime have been referred to the attorney general’s department for legal action, reports say.

Twenty nine reports remain unattended to.

All these investigation reports have been handed over to president Maithripala Sirisena.

The reports referred to the AG relate to frauds in the Negombo lagoon development, distribution of trading stalls by Mahiyangana Pradeshiya Sabha, ITN, Rakna Lanka and Chilaw Plantation Company.
