A decision by Maithri after the Conference
Meanwhile, a meeting between the President and SLFP members who intended to leave the government was held last Tuesday after the Cabinet meeting.
During the meeting attended by SLFP seniors such as John Seneviratne, Susil Premajayantha and Anura Yapa, John Seneviratne had said that based on political reality, it was indeed difficult to carry on in their ministerial post further with the UNP.
He had pointed out that if the party does not heed these political realities, it would have to face drastic defeats at the forthcoming elections.
The other ministers attending the meeting had also expressed similar views.
The President had then asked them to be patient as he would take several important decisions after September 03.
