Fresh Bids call for BIA’s Aviation Refueling Terminal

New Petroleum Resources Development Minister Arjuna Ranatunge recently cancelled the latest tender called for re-development and upgrading of the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA)’s Aviation Refueling Terminal and the existing Fuel Hydrant system .

He has taken this decision by considering a determination made by Sri Lanka’s Procurement Appeal Board stating that it does not endorse the Cabinet Appointed Procurement Committee (CAPC) and Technical Evaluation Committee (TEC) toward the tender to the Greek Company, Metron Energy.

Fresh bids will be called to award the tender to most suitable lowest bidder with considerable experience in carrying out similar projects.

In a letter, the CEO of Aviation Fuel Services SA at Athens airport has stated that that Metron Energy was never involved in the project directly.

This company has also submitted forged documents to prove their financial status claiming that they have carried out  fuel terminal construction to the magnitude of US$ 25 million

Fresh bids will be called to award the tender to the most suitable lowest bidder with considerable experience in carrying out similar projects.

The Greek company Metron Energy, had submitted forged documents to the Cabinet Appointed Procurement Committee (CAPC) and Technical Evaluation Committee (TEC), to win the contract.
