They completely disapprove of targeting Karunanayake only, whereas they say, there are many other serious matters to be considered, such as other corruption and fraud in the government, delaying elections etc.
Focusing on Karunanayake will negate criticism of the entire mechanism of the government, which is advantageous to its politicians, they point out.
They also believe Karunanayake will be temporarily removed from his ministerial portfolio and reinstated later.
They are echoing a similar sentiment expressed by ex-president Mahinda Rajapaksa, who has told joint opposition leaders that they should work against the entire government without focusing in individuals.
However, the JO MPs moved a no-confidence motion against Karunanayake on August 03.
