Court order to be obtained against Shiranthi, Yoshitha Featured

A court order will be obtained against former first lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa and her son Yoshitha, who are avoiding summons by the CID for questioning over the murder of rugger player Wasim Thajudeen, a senior police official said.

They had cited various reasons and evaded the CID on 27 and 28 of July, the dates they were told to appear before it.

Shiranthi is to be interrogated in connection with a jeep that had been donated to her ‘Siriliya’ organization by the Red Cross.

That vehicle had been used to ambush Thajudeen’s car on the day of his murder, it has come to light.

The CID wants to question Yoshitha over information it has received that an underworld member identified as Hetey Watte Sureka was involved in the killing.

After Thajudeen’s murder, Sureka had been sent overseas.
