Power cuts close at hand?

The water levels of the upcountry main reservoirs have drastically dwindled to less that 35%, it is reported.

The Randenigala reservoir active water capacity has reduced to 8% of the total capacity while at Victoria reservoir the active water capacity is around 18%.

The active water capacity of the Rantambe reservoir is at 17% while the Kotmale reservoir active water capacity is at 36%.

The Bowatenna reservoir which belongs to the Mahaweli reservoir network has reduced to 63%.

In the event the water levels of the main reservoirs reduce further it will be required to impose power cuts, according to CEB internal sources.
