Dengue: Two hour condition for private hospitals

If private hospitals fail to issue the blood reports of patients suffering from dengue within two hours, that report will not be valid for the initiation of treatment of that patient, said Health Minister Dr. Rajitha Senaratne.

The minister made this comment at the meeting of heads of the Health Department today (21).

He was responding to complaints by the doctors that certain private hospitals takes over two hours to issue the blood report.

The Health Ministry pointed out that as a result of the delay, it hampers the efforts of the doctors to initiate proper treatment in a timely manner.

Hence, the minister urges the public to come to a government hospital and have their blood samples tested in the event a private hospital delays the blood report over two hours.
Issuing a statement, the Health Ministry pointed out that all government hospitals issue blood reports within an hour while at the Colombo National Hospital dengue blood test results are issued within ten minutes.
