President Maithripala Sirisena does not dance to the tunes of prime minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, he also said.
There was no agreement between them with regard to the appointment of the Central Bank governor, with the president not agreeing to reappoint its former governor, said Perera.
A fraud of massive proportions
He noted that a president commission had been appointed to probe the CB bond issue, despite attacks by the joint opposition over the matter.
The investigation report is yet to be released, but evidence is coming to light about a fraud of massive proportions, he said.
The president has been able to uncover it as he is the leader of the government, and that would not have been possible had there by a government only of the UNP, according to him.
Duminda, still a baby
‘Shouldn’t have said so’
When comparing to ex-president Mahinda Rajapaksa, minister Duminda Dissanayake is a baby politically, he went onto say.
Dissanayake should not have said that Rajapaksa would not be given SLFP nominations at future elections, and he would have made the remark, possibly because he is a young minister, said Perera.
