Similarly the Cabinet at its meeting yesterday, had decided to ban the import, production, sale and use of lunch boxes, plastic plates, cups and spoons made using polystyrene. Polystyrene is a plastic used in a variety of situations, including construction and food packaging.

It was also proposed to ban cooked or prepared food items being sold in polythene bags and to also ban plastic used for decorating during festive occasions.
