JO to petition against Inland Revenue bill Featured

The joint opposition will file a fundamental rights petition against the proposed Inland Revenue bill in the Supreme Court tomorrow (11), said JO MP Bandula Gunawardena.

Inland Revenue Department (IRD) trade unions too, are against it, have been demanding the withdrawal of the draft and staged a token strike on July 07.

The government says the new bill aims to simplify and modernize the Inland Revenue Act, as per 2016 budget proposals.

However, the TUs say it is a carbon copy of the IMF-introduced Inland Revenue Act for Ghana in that same year.
