''Anyone protecting Gnanasara will be punished”

Anyone found guilty of providing protection or harbouring to BBS General Secretary Galagodaththe Gnanasara Thera will be dealt with according to the law and severely punished, warned Police Spokesman DIG Priyantha Jayakody.

He said several teams have been deployed for the arrest of the monk and within the next few days he would be apprehended and produced in Court.

The Colombo Fort Magistrate had issued a warrant for the arrest of Gnanasara Thera for failing to appear in Court over the case filed against him for contempt of Court.

He urged the general public to notify the Police Headquarters or the nearest police station if they had any information regarding the whereabouts of Gnanasara Thera.

He also warned the public against volunteering to provide protection to the monk as it would be considered a punishable offence.
