The said LTTE member is a 28-year-old residing in Batticaloa, Vellavelli area.

The charges against the accused was the killing of a Sub Inspector and two police Constables in the Elephant Pass area of the Thanamalwila police area on January 21, 2008. He was also charged with the theft of the weapons and ammunition.

The case was being heard over a considerable time period and he received the death sentence yesterday which is being implemented as a life sentence.
