Remanded Mahinda’s driver hospitalized

Former President Mahinda rajapaksa’s driver, Sri Lanka Army Captain Tissa Wimalasena has been admitted to the Prison hospital less than 24 hours after he was remanded.

He was remanded on charges of operating an illegal quarry in a government owned plot of land in the Koratota area causing the government to lose over Rs.130 million in damages and many other charges filed against him by the FCID. He was remanded until June 27.

Investigations have revealed that the former President’s driver had been involved in may unlawful activities during the previous regime.

He was summoned by the FCID on June 12 and subsequent to being questioned, he was taken into custody by the FCID yesterday.
