These were the affected out of a total of 350,000 children in the province, who are in need of text and exercise books, bags, educational equipment, shoes, water bottles and everything else, said provincial education ministry secretary Mahinda S. Weerasuriya.
Most of the affected children are from Ratnapura, Nivitigala and Dehiowita areas.
To uplift their morale
Weerasuriya said these children were being given psychological consultancy services to uplift their confidence.
81 schools lost everything
The floods and landslide left 19 children dead and 81 schools have lost everything in Sabaragamuwa.
Weerasuriya added that the treasury has been asked to provide Rs. 530 million needed to restore the facilities.
