SL 61st globally, 2nd in S. Asia in childhood index Featured

Sri Lanka has been ranked 61st globally in end of the childhood index by ‘Save the Children’ and is placed second in South Asia.

The organization which works for marginalized and deprived children globally has assessed the situation in 172 countries.

For many reasons, 700 million children globally have had their childhood shortened.

With Sri Lanka, Bhutan, and Myanmar ranking at 61, 93, and 112 respectively, India, at 116, stands way below its neighboring countries.

Bangladesh, Pakistan and Nepal are even lower down in the index.

The ten countries taking care of their children the best are Norway, Slovenia, Finland, Netherlands, Sweden, Portugal, Ireland, Iceland, Italy and Belgium.
