Lakshman Yapa as president’s chief-of-staff! Featured

President Maithripala Sirisena is considering appointing UPFA Matara district MP, state minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena as his chief of staff, a top official at the president’s office told Sri Lanka Mirror.

Prime minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has Matara district MP, minister Sagala Ratnayake as his chief of staff.

Meanwhile, state enterprise minister Kabir Hashim has expressed concern to the president over the appointment of Abeywardena as his state minister, reports reaching SLM say.

Abeywardena has now put off assuming duties, which had been scheduled to take place yesterday (01).

Also, a certain group has allotted a confined office space for his personal staff at the ministry.

Objecting to that, Abeywardena has demanded from the ministry secretary that his personal staff be givn the same number of rooms allotted to Eran Wickremaratne when he was the state minister.
